“True Blood” season 2 finale does not disappoint

By Sarah Mulé Wow. First of all, this post is filled to the brim with spoilers so if you haven’t yet watched the season 2 finale of “True Blood,” stop what you’re doing and go watch it right now. And then come back here and read this. Moving on … I’ve seen some interesting weddings, but Maryann’s holy nuptials take the cake. With her bridesmaids (Lafayette included - he really rocked that dress, don’t you think?) and Sookie as her unwilling maid-of-honor, Maryann gathered all of the crazy-eyed townsfolk (now including Jason and Andy) to watch her marry The God Who Comes. But first she needs a vessel. Bill and Sam have cooked up a plan to save the town but, annoyingly, Bill doesn’t let Sookie in on this plan until the very last moment. So Sam allows himself to be sacrificed and Sookie makes a mess of things by ruining Maryann’s weird meat-stick-nest-man-statue thing. With Maryann hell bent on scratching Sookie to death with those creepy claws, Bill rescues Sam and lets him drink from him to save his life. Sam, in a fabulous scene, turns himself into a bull (a Braman?) tricking nutso Maryann into thinking that he was the god and she was to be the sacrifice. He gores her with his horns for a minute or two and then pulls out her gross, black, funky looking heart and kills her. Everyone comes out of their trance and life goes back to normal. If only for an hour or two … We find out that Queen Sophie-Anne is the one ordering Eric to sell V and is less than pleased when she learns that Bill knows what Eric is doing. Eric promises her that he will take care of Bill. Evan Rachel Wood is the perfect brand of wacky to play this role and I am looking forward to seeing where this picks up next season. And then there’s Hoyt and Jessica. I loved

them. I really did. Hoyt tells off his mama for being a cantankerous old woman, and heads off to Bill’s to apologize to Jessica. Jessica tells Bill that she is going to do the same but when we see her, she’s making out with a nasty guy at a truck stop. Who she bites. Bad, bad, bad. Wonder what’s going to happen to them in season 3. I also am excited to see this new storyline with Sam. He leaves town for a few days and returns to confront his adoptive parents who abandoned him when they realized what he was. His dying adoptive father gives him the names and info of his birth parents and Sam, presumably, sets off to find them. And then the two big surprises of the night… With Sookie’s help, Eggs realizes what he’s been doing while under Maryann’s spell and it sends him over the edge. He confronts Andy in the Merlottes parking lot demanding to be arrested for what he’s done. Jason happens upon this scene and thinking Andy’s in trouble, he shoots Eggs in the head. And poor, poor Tara. I felt so bad for her crying over Egg’s body. And the biggest surprise: Bill rents out this romantic French restaurant and proposes to Sookie. Things got a bit dramatic and Sookie rushed off to the bathroom to compose herself. By the time she realized that she did, in fact, want to become Mrs. Bill Compton he had been choked from behind with a rope of silver and dragged out the door. I’m thinking this has Eric all over it and I hate that I have to wait until next year to find out. This show should just be filmed continuously throughout the year. I am all for signing a petition or something. Go here to see the original: “True Blood” season 2 finale does not disappoint
