EFF drops suit against Viacom by YouTube video
The EFF had sued Viacom by a takedown notice the media company sent regarding a Stephen Colbert parody clip posted to YouTube.
The EFF had filed its lawsuit on behalf of MoveOn.org, Civic Action, and courageous New Films. At first Viacom denied sending a takedown notice by the video, but later the company admitted that it had sent the notice and that it had been a mistake to do so.

The video, called “Stop the Falsiness,” was created using clips from The Colbert Report, but it was a parody of both Colbert’s right-wing schtick and MoveOn.org.

Trying to stop anything from appearing on YouTube is like the little Dutch boy with his finger in the hole in the dam. Plug one leak and another is bound to pop up sooner or later.
I hate Viacom for taking all their content off of YouTube. They don’t syndicate or release certain shows on DVD, but they won’t let you share your copies with anyone, either. Assholes!
