Fox pulls Bones episode considering of Virginia Tech massacre

Some major news event rattles that country, or the world, and an entertainment program coincidentally has a storyline that is just a little too close to the actual news. Case in point: that week, Fox is replacing a new episode of Bones with a repeat. Not much more is known about the plot of the episode, but it was apparently sufficient to construct execs think of yesterday’s Virginia Tech shooting rampage that left 33 folks dead.

Sometimes it seems like entertainment divisions are being too sensitive

to the American psyche, but I think it’s better to err on the side of caution. Sadly, I wouldn’t be at all surprised whether Law & Order took a stab at the university shooting storyline next season as one of their “ripped from the headlines” episodes.

I think that its very considerate of Fox to think about what happened in Virginia yesterday. So many other people are not. I remember when September 11 happened everyone was so cautious that they wouldn’t put anything on TV that remotely reminded them of 9/11. Even the movie Independence Day was probably pulled for almost a year. I guess people think if they don’t take the necessary steps in trying to be considerate people may not watch them anymore.
