Has Drive Been Cancelled Already?

Described as NASCAR meets LOST, Fox’s summer series has reportedly been cancelled already:

Drive has been impounded

Multiple sources confirm that Fox has axed the Tim Minear creation after less than three weeks on the air. I’ll go out on a limb and say the show’s crappy ratings were to blame. House encores will take over its Monday/8 pm time slot.

There is one piece of good news: I’m hearing the final two unaired Drive eps may get burned off on consecutive Fridays in May.

Developing…

The premiere debuted to only 6 million viewers which immediately put Drive

behind Extreme Makeover:  Home Edition and even The Apprentice on NBC.  Forbes noted that debuting a new series in mid April wasn’t the best of timing

“Viewers aren’t conditioned to look for new things, and Sunday favorites like “Desperate Housewives” and “The Sopranos” were back with new episodes this week in the stretch drive for the TV season.”

I was actually sort of starting to get into Drive and at least it wasn’t another reality TV show.  Plus will Nathan Fillion ever get the break he deserves? - On the bright side for Lost fans this might mean he’s available for more flashbacks with Kate

I can’t believe that it is already cancelled. That’s why I have a hard time getting into new shows because they all seem like they are going away. That’s too bad because TV is my favorite thing in the world without it I would be lost…Or would it be that I’m watching Lost???

I loved this show the first two nights but by the third I was wondering how they were going to sustain the interest. There were only 3 of the 5 couples that interested me.

I’m surprised the ratings were so low with Nathan Fillion and a great ad campagin by Fox.
