Jonny Quest live-action flick is a go

jonny questMy friend Wild Bill sent me news that Jonny Quest, the Hanna-Barbera series about the titular lad who accompanies his scientist father on wild adventures, is being made into a live-action movie. The series, much like The Flintstones, The Jetsons and Top Cat, aired during primetime when it first aired in the ’60s. New versions of Jonny Quest additionally popped up in

the ’80s and ’90s.

Like the upcoming Speed Racer flick from the Wachowski brothers, reports so far say the movie will be “family friendly.” The movie will serve as an origin story explaining how Jonny’s bodyguard Roger “Race” Bannon and Dr. Benton Quest’s adopted son Hadji join the family.

  1. Mark Williams says:

I grew up with Jonny Quest. I know about every word there is in each episode before they say anything. I was 3 years old in a month when it was released in sept. 1964. It was on Wednesdays nights at 7:30, then change to Friday nights at 7:30 I believe, on ABC. When it was canceled the next year the creators were very disappointed, cause they had big plans for the series, but no one or any other network picked them up for a second season. It when off T.V. for one year then CBS picked it up for their Saturday morning shows, which was switched back to ABC on so on through the years being played on Sunday as well. This is how I got started watching it, when it was on at 1:30 Saturday I could get to see it and keep track of it when it was on Sunday too. A local station picked up the rights for it in 1979 in the summer of that year. NBC took the rights in 1980 and destroyed it with the editing for violence. Can you believe it…They scarred the beginning credits by chopping up the start of the show in pieces. Doug Wildey (Creator) heard of it and was furious! But could do nothing, for the network own it now and they were hopeless. Anyways, I can’t wait for the Movie!!!! Sam Elliot to play Race Bannon I hope!!!!!!!!See Ya! Jonny Quest out (Mark)
