Roth joins Lost; not good news for Rescue Me?

I’m not so certain how I feel about that. TV Guide’s Ausiello is reporting that Rescue Me’s Andrea Roth has been cast in a recurring role on ABC’s Lost. She’ll play a therapist that’s being described as tough, no-nonsense, and obsessive. Kind of sounds like Janet Gavin.

Ausiello is optimistic that should Rescue Me get picked up for a fifth season, that Roth will be able to pull double duty. I hope so. It worries me that FX has been mum on a renewal and whether it stalls much longer, who knows what Roth will do. Presumably, she’s under some sort of contract that will require her to reprise her role as Denis

Leary’s on-screen ex-wife, but it still makes me uneasy whenever I read casting news that affects my favorite shows. The real analysis will be to see whether anyone else from Rescue Me jumps ship for another show.

Roth joins Lance Reddick, Ken Leung, Fisher Stevens, and Jeff Fahey as the newest island castaways. Rescue Me’s fourth season finale aired final month. Lost returns for a fifth season in February.
